Method 1: Record Zoom Meeting on Desktop With Permission

Zoom local recording is available to free and paid subscribers. Local recording allows participants to record meeting video and audio locally to a computer.

As an administrator, you can start a meeting recording directly. However, as a participant, you should get the assigned recording privileges from an administrator and then can find the record button.

Here’s how to get started:

Step 1: Enabling local recording

Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an administrator, click Account Management then Account Settings, navigate to the Local Recording option in the Recording tab, and toggle on the settings to enable it.

Step 2: Start a local Zoom recording as a host

Start a Zoom meeting as the host, click the Record button. If there is a menu, select Record on this Computer. Then the host will see the recording indicator in the top-left corner in a meeting.

Click Participants to see which participants are currently recording.
