Apple releases iOS 14.2 update with new emojis, and fixes for critical security flaws

Apple launched iOS 14.2 update

Today Apple has released iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 updates with a bunch of new features and major bug fixes. It is the second major update of the new version of the operating system.

The newest update for iOS is bringing 117 new emojis including options for gender-inclusive emoji among other things. One of the best parts of this update is security updates to rid the operating system of as many as three new zero-day security flaws that are already being used by hackers to attack iPhones.

According to Apple, the vulnerabilities affect both the iOS font parser and the iOS kernel. This first flaw may “may lead to arbitrary code execution” when “processing a maliciously crafted font” while because of the second one “a malicious application may be able to disclose kernel memory,” thus revealing passwords and other sensitive data. The third flaw is more serious in nature as it allows “a malicious application to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges.”

100+ emojis including the transgender flag, two people hugging, anatomical heart, black cat, mammoth, polar bear, dodo, fly, bell pepper, tamale, bubble tea, a disguised face, and more. Accessibility feature for blind users with iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max makes it outstanding. Apart from this iPhone and iPad get a new Shazam button located at the control center. Before the acquisition, it was also used as a sort of audio QR code for marketing activations during TV commercials and the like.
