- Instagram Adds New Options to Switch Off Your Audio or Video During an IG Live Broadcast.
- Instagram’s new features are available for use for both Android and iOS users.
- The social media platform is working towards bringing more features soon.
Instagram comes a step closer to Clubhouse with the option to mute audio and turns off video during Instagram Live sessions. Instagram explains these new features will give hosts more flexibility during their live stream experiences, as they can decrease the pressure to look or sound a certain way while broadcasting live.
The whole process includes that Instagram users can tap on the microphone button to mute the audio, and the video camera button to turn off their video. After the video is turned off, the video box will show the user’s display picture.
This isn’t the first feature Instagram has added in recent weeks to lure the creator community to its platform instead of Clubhouse or other competitors. In March, Instagram rolled out the option for creators to host Live Rooms that allow up to four people to broadcast at the same time.
Benefits of New feature:
The feature will also reduce pressure on those who are camera shy. Making it easier for them to engage in a conversation and then choose whether to appear on the video or not. However, Instagram Live is not a proper Clubhouse competitor just yet. The ability to mute and turn off videos is available only to the host – and the host cannot control the audio and video streams of others who join in on the live stream.
The company notes that it is working on adding more controls to Instagram Live, with the rollout expected to happen soon.
