Mortal Kombat 11’s Friendships let you befriend your opponent

Published

Mortal Kombat’s fan-favourite Friendships will return in a new update, alongside Stage Fatalities and new stages.

Mortal Kombat 11 lets you decapitate, mutilate, and leave opponents as a bloody, unrecognisable mess on the ground.

But what if you feel really bad about dismembering another player or are particularly averse to the gore? Mortal Kombat 11’s new Friendships might be what you’re looking for.

Part of a new, free update that’s coming on 26 May, Friendships can be performed in place of the usual match-ending Fatalities.

Despite only being included in Mortal Kombat 2 and 3, Friendships see the cast of Mortal Kombat engage in softer, more playful activities, whether it be playing with a toy train, taking to the dance floor, or flying a kite.

The free update will also come with four new stages – the Dead Pool, the Soul Chamber, Kronika’s Keep, and the RetroKade – and new Stage Fatalities, unique fatalities that can be performed on select stages where you let the environment finish your opponent off.

It will become available in conjunction with the new, paid Aftermath expansion, which adds three new playable characters, including RoboCop, and new story DLC.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Switch, PC, and Stadia.
