Poco is joining other smartphone makers to offer extended warranty on devices during this lockdown period. The company has announced that it will now give an extended warranty on devices till May 31, 2021.
This will be applicable to devices whose warranty expires during the lockdown period. Realme has also extended the replacement period for faulty devices as people are unable to venture outside during the lockdown period.
Other online retailers have also suspended operations for non-essential products. Tech companies have come together to support the government and healthcare professionals during these tough times.
The company said in a statement said:
Poco said that it has taken the decision in light of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in the country. Poco also announced that it will not conduct any launch in May 2021.
Commenting on upcoming releases, Poco said that it “has consciously decided not to conduct any launch in May 2021.” The company further added, “We are pausing our new launches as we hope for the situation to improve.”
The company urged all its users to take care of themselves and their loved ones. “Lives matter, loved ones matter! This too shall pass,” Poco said in its announcement.
This is not the first time a company is extending the warranty on its products due to COVID-19. In 2020, many brands offered an extended warranty on their products for up to 75 days. OnePlus was one such brand that not only extended the warranty but also extended the return and replacement for its devices from 15 to 30 days.
The company has donated lakhs of masks to the government and hospitals. They are taking additional measures to protect their employees during these times. With extended warranty and replacement period, these companies seem to be doing right by their customers.
