- Pokemon GO Fest 2021 sets July weekend dates.
- Pokémon Go Fest to be held online this year due to Covid-19.
- Last year’s online-only Pokémon Go Fest was a huge success, with “a record number of millions of trainers”.
Pokémon GO Fest 2021 will offer exciting opportunities for Trainers around the world to complete research, catch Pokémon, and more.
It will be a remote event that all players will be able to access on their phones by purchasing a ticket. There will be no physical location, which means we’re looking at something similar to last year’s Pokémon GO Fest 2020.
Unlike previous years, attendees can participate in the event on both days of the festival. Previously, people could only attend the event for one day. Since the event is being taken global and online, the makers wish to sell out more tickets this year.
Traditionally, Pokémon Go is an AR game that requires the players to physically go outside. The makers have added certain features to help players abide by the social distancing rules including virtual raids for a limited time
Last year’s online-only Pokémon Go Fest was a huge success, with “a record number of millions of trainers” in 124 countries and regions catching nearly a billion pokémon in total, Niantic said after the 2020 fest. Niantic also said that players walked nearly 15 kilometers each on average.
The Niantic didn’t share many other details, though it did tease that this year’s event could be particularly noteworthy.
Pokemon Go Fest: Niantic said in a blog post
“2021 marks both the twenty-fifth anniversary of Pokémon and the fifth anniversary of Pokémon Go, so trust us when we say you won’t want to miss Pokémon Go Fest 2021!”
“We’re bringing back Pokémon GO Fest on July 17–18 as an all-new, completely reimagined global event in a virtual format. The adventures of Pokémon GO Fest are coming direct to Trainers and neighborhoods around the world so anyone can participate from home,” the post read.
The organizers said that they have “new experiences, gameplay, and surprises throughout the event.”
