Senior Citizens in Rajasthan to Get 5% Pension Boost at 70: New BJP Government Scheme

“The Finance Department has approved the announcement of the Bhajan Lal government of Rajasthan to give additional pension to the pensioner society on reaching the age limit. A notification has been issued in this regard. After the Chief Minister’s announcement of giving a five percent additional pension on turning 70, the pensioners are happy with the issuance of the order. Everyone’s eyes are also fixed on when the process of money coming into their accounts on the announcement starts. The pensioners say that the announcement was made earlier also but the payment has not yet come in the accounts. Well, this is a different issue.

Pension Scheme Update: A Big Relief for Rajasthan’s Senior Citizens

The Rajasthan government has introduced new rules to provide financial relief to senior citizens. As of April 1, 2024, pensioners turning 70 will receive an additional 5% of their basic pension. This increment was previously available at 75 years but has now been reduced to 70. Furthermore, pensioners will receive 10% at age 75, and the percentage will increase slab-wise to 100% for those who turn 100. The scheme also extends benefits to families receiving pensions, offering long-term financial security.

Death Benefits for Families

In addition to the age-based pension increments, the Rajasthan government has updated its death benefits. If a government employee passes away after April 1, 2024, the family will receive an increased pension for 10 years. If the death occurred before this date, the increased pension will be given for seven years. This change provides more support for families of deceased employees, ensuring they are financially stable for a longer period.

Special Benefits for Pensioner Dependents

The scheme also caters to dependents of pensioners, such as mentally challenged children, pensionable widowed daughters, and others. They will receive continued benefits under the new rules, securing the financial future of dependents who rely on the pensioner for support.

Simplified Life Certificate Process

In a significant move to ease administrative procedures, the government has simplified the process of obtaining life certificates. Fellow employees can now verify pensioners’ life certificates using their SSO-ID, making it more convenient for retirees to fulfill this mandatory requirement.

Incremental Pension Benefits

Previously, additional allowances started at age 75. With the new scheme, increments will begin earlier at age 70. The additional pension slabs are as follows:

  • 5% at 70 years
  • 10% at 75 years
  • 20% at 80 years
  • 30% at 85 years
  • 40% at 90 years
  • 50% at 95 years
  • 100% at 100 years

This structured increase ensures that elderly pensioners receive more financial assistance as they age, particularly when healthcare and living costs rise with age.

Government’s Commitment to Pensioners

The government, under Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, has responded to long-standing demands from the pensioner society by implementing these changes. The President of the Rajasthan Pensioner Society, Nemichand Poonia, along with other key officials, expressed their gratitude for the government’s efforts to provide financial relief to the elderly.

In conclusion, this updated pension scheme by the Rajasthan government is a significant step toward enhancing the financial stability of senior citizens and their families. With increased allowances, death benefits, and simplified procedures, the scheme offers a well-rounded solution to the challenges faced by retirees and their dependents.
