The AirPods, Google’s Pixel 3A, PS4 Pro, and more are heavily discounted for Memorial Day

Published

on

It’s Memorial Day weekend in the US. Several retailers are offering some of the best deals that we’ve seen in months, spanning several categories of tech. There’s quite a lot to look at today, so we’ve included a selection of promotions below.

Now is about the time when we hear something from Amazon about when its annual Prime Day will happen. For what it’s worth, Amazon may be planning to delay its Prime Day shopping event, usually in July, to September. So, it’s possible that some of these deals might not come back for a few months. Then again, since we’ve seen many of these discounts below making repeat appearances, some of them may be here to stay.

Acer is offering a site-wide discount on desktops, laptops, and more with the offer code MEM2020 used at checkout. That will save you up to 20 percent on your purchase. If it’s accessories that you’re after, you can save 30 percent on those.

Tablets

Apple iPad

The seventh-generation iPad is up to $100 off this weekend at Best Buy and Amazon, matching the lowest price we’ve seen yet. This tablet has seen no shortage of discounts recently, but it’s worth highlighting here in case you’ve missed out on previous price cuts.

If you think you can squeeze by with 32GB of storage, the $250 ($80 off) version of the iPad should suit you just fine. Otherwise, if storage is a concern, the 128GB version is $329 (usually $429) at both Best Buy and Amazon.

Gaming

GameStop has a deal this weekend where if you buy two games (new or used), you can get a third one for free. As is usually the case, you’ll get the most affordable one for free, so you can save the most money if you get three $60 games. Notably, this is the first time that GameStop has offered a deal like this for new games, so take advantage of it if you have a few titles on your wishlist.

GameStop is also offering savings on the refurbished PS4 Pro console. It usually costs $400, but you can get it for $280. Given that this console will be succeeded later in the year with the PS5, I’m reluctant to recommend buying it at full price. However, for this more affordable price, it’s far easier to recommend if you want a 4K-ready console to play The Last of Us Part II or Ghosts of Tsushima. Lastly, if you add five preowned games to your cart that cost no more than $20 each, you can get them all for just $50 when you buy them alongside the refurbished console.

Phones

Several retailers are offering the Pixel 3A at $120 off, which makes it $279. The Pixel 3A XL is also discounted, but with an even bigger $160 price cut that brings it down to $319. Both are a great deal if you’re looking for a phone with a good camera and the latest Android software.

Apple’s iPhone SE

The new iPhone SE starts at $399, but it can be had for free after 24 months of monthly credits at T-Mobile.

T-Mobile is offering the iPhone SE (usually $399) to its customers for free with a trade-in. Note that it’s not free right away. You’ll need to enroll in a device payment plan for the SE, though by trading in a phone, you’ll be reimbursed the full cost of the phone with monthly credits given to you over a 24-month period. Speaking of, here’s the full list of eligible phones to trade in to get the iPhone SE for free after two years:

  • iPhone 6S / 6S Plus series or newer
  • LG V40 ThinQ / LG G7 ThinQ or newer
  • Samsung Galaxy S8 / Note8 series or newer
  • Google Pixel 3 series or newer
  • OnePlus 6T or newer

One of Satechi’s newer hubs lets you connect to two 4K 60Hz displays and keep your MacBook Pro charged up.

Satechi is offering a 15 percent discount on purchases made with the offer code MEMORIAL at its site. If you spend more than $100 while you’re there, the code MEMORIAL20 will get you 20 percent off.

GOG’s summer sale discounts Prey, Metro Exodus, and many other DRM-free games

Published

By

GOG.com has kicked off its summer sale on DRM-free PC games, filled with deals on new and old titles. This sale lasts until June 15th. A few of the highlights include Metro Exodus for $20 and Prey: Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes the base game, its soundtrack, and the Mooncrash DLC for just $12. Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition is $22.50, which is an excellent price for such a huge game (and it supports cross-save with the Nintendo Switch version of the game).

In addition to discounting many more standalone games than we listed above, GOG is doing something interesting with this summer’s sale by letting you save even more on games that share a theme. For instance, buying three RPG titles or action games knocks an extra 5 percent off the already-discounted final cost, while getting five or more games takes 10 percent off. There are plenty of other bundles you can build that take advantage of that discount, ranging from games made by a single developer like Paradox, Devolver Digital, or Activision.

GOG is also using its summer sale celebration as an excuse to offer up a new demo of System Shock, the remake of the influential FPS game that’s currently in development. Also, Cyberpunk 2077 is not discounted, but if you wanted 100 percent of your purchase to support the developer, GOG is the place to buy it since it’s owned and operated by CD Projekt Group.

The iPhone XS Max is $300 off at Woot

Published

By

Woot is offering the iPhone XS Max at its lowest price yet. You can pick up a new model in space gray with 64GB for $700. This is 30 percent off of its usual price, and if you’re keen on having the latest-generation iPhone, it’s a good way to save. The 2018 iPhone XS Max has a big 6.5-inch OLED screen, and it’s powered by the A12 Bionic processor. The version that Woot is selling is unlocked to work with any US carrier.

Woot also has the 256GB and 512GB configurations of the iPhone XS Max in space gray. If you want either silver or gold, the only option is the $900 512GB version of the phone, which is 33 percent off its regular price.

Also in the world of phone deals, Google’s Pixel 3A and 3A XL are up to $160 off. This deal lasts until late June, but I mention it here because I’ve noticed stock beginning to deplete from a few retailers. So, it’s worth mentioning again that the Pixel 3A is $120 off for a final price of $279, whereas the Pixel 3A XL has a bigger $160 discount that brings it down to $319. Now, for the links.

The skinny on both phones is that they can take pictures that look almost identical to ones shot from the Pixel 3 (in other words, very good), and they have the latest Android software.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch is $15 off at Best Buy, bringing it down to $45. Switch games tend to keep hold of their full price for a long time, so it’s noteworthy in a way that this one is a little more affordable today. My colleague Sam Byford said in his review that it’s the best version of the game compared to the PS4 and PC versions simply because you can take it on the go. It also includes a bunch of exclusive features, like the ability to play through the entirety of the campaign in 2D mode.

DJI’s Osmo Action camera is almost half off at Amazon

Published

Today’s deals are a mix of low-priced gadgets made even more affordable as well as some high-end products that don’t usually see a discount. The biggest price cut is on DJI’s Osmo Action 4K HDR camera. It usually costs $500, but today at Amazon, you can get it for $288. The price reduction is impressive, but what makes this deal extra special is that the camera comes with a 128GB microSD card and DJI’s Care Refresh service plan that allows up to two replacement units in one year.

Aukey’s 65W Omnia charger with two USB-C ports.

Next is Aukey’s 65W Omnia GaN wall charger. Normally $50, it’s $38 over at Amazon if you check out with the offer code DETL5M4Y. This model features two USB-C ports, and it’s powerful enough to charge an iPad Pro and a phone, a laptop and a Nintendo Switch, and anything else that gets its charge through USB-C.

Apple’s previous-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro with 256GB of storage is seeing the biggest price cut we’ve seen. At B&H Photo, you can pick it up for $899, which is $100 less than what other retailers are currently charging. The newer 2020 model in this size configuration and with this much storage costs $1,099. And aside from having more rear-facing cameras (three versus one), LIDAR functionality for improved AR, and a slightly more capable processor, they don’t differ all that much.

Blink Mini

Amazon is bundling the Echo Show 5 smart display with the new Blink Mini home security cam for $75. Outside of any deals, the display and the camera together would normally cost $125, so you’re saving $50 with today’s discount. The Blink Mini works with Alexa-powered devices, including the Echo Show 5, and you can summon a live view of what the camera sees right on the display.
