Hi Readers!! If you are a Twitter user, then there is good news for you!! Twitter is working on adding emoji reactions to tweets. Currently, you can only like a tweet by tapping the heart button but Twitter plans to add more reactions such as “Likes”, “Cheer”, “Hmm”, “Sad”, and “Haha”.

Twitter will display the different tweet reactions along with the number of reactions received. It’s similar to how Facebook displays emoji reactions to posts and comments. Twitter is also expected to show who reacted with which emoji.

The proposed emoji reactions could include the basic emojis including a laughing face with tears, a thinking face, a crying face, along with some more emojis like a shocked face, angry faces, fire emojis, and more, according to screenshots of the survey shared by the users.

Emoji Popularity: Twitter

According to an Emojipedia analysis, the top 10 emojis on Twitter are:

  1. 😂 Face with Tears of Joy
  2. 😭 Loudly Crying Face
  3. 🥺 Pleading Face
  4. ❤️ Red Heart
  5. 🤣 Rolling on the Floor Laughing
  6. ✨ Sparkles
  7. 😍 Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes
  8. 🙏 Folded Hands
  9. 🥰 Smiling Face with Hearts
  10. 😊 Smiling Face with Smiling Eyes.

Twitter is also thinking of introducing Reddit style upvote and downvote mechanism with green thumbs up for ‘agree’ and red Thumps down for ‘disagree’.

Twitter is again missing a trick by not exploring the one thing most Twitter users really want – an edit button to polish an incorrectly spelled Tweet or accidental send.

It would be interesting to see how the reactions on Twitter help people become more expressive. However, we don’t know when it will be introduced. Hence, stay tuned to know more about it.
