WhatsApp Says Two Outdated Software Bugs Addressed After CERT-in Warns User Data at Risk

On Monday, the most popular messaging app – WhatsApp has issued the statement that the two bugs that are found in the outdated software have been fixed now.

Now there is no reason to think ever that “these vulnerabilities were ever abused”its users again.

WhatsApp developers made this official statement after the advisory issued by the CERT.

In which it is mentioned that WhatsApp users should be careful about certain vulnerabilities in the app that can steal user’s sensitive information.

WhatsApp’s Spokesperson made this statement-

“We regularly work with security researchers to improve the numerous ways WhatsApp protects people’s messages.
As is typical of software products, we have addressed two bugs that existed on outdated software, and we have no reason to believe that they were ever abused,”
WhatsApp said that our team is regularly working with security researchers to improve WhatsApp so that people’s messages remain protected.
The spokesperson also said that end-to-end encryption is intended to protect people’s messages.

On Saturday, CERT-In, or the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team issued an advisory.

They had detected vulnerability in the software of WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business for Android prior to v2.21.4.18 and WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business for iOS prior to v2.21.32”.

In the advisory, the CERT has said that

“Multiple vulnerabilities have been found in WhatsApp. Any remote hacker can easily steal the sensitive information on a targeted system.”

They recommended that users must update their devices with the latest version of WhatsApp Application to remain secure from this vulnerability.

We tell you that CERT is the highest technology arm that keeps spying on cyberattacks.

WhatsApp spokesperson told that all the bugs have been fixed now.

It has appealed to their users to update their outdated software.
